another reason i have not posted

picture this:
seattle and glasgow are roughly on the same latitude.
you live in seattle and you want to go to glasgow. flying on a plane takes 11 hours plus 3 hours getting to the airport and through security, etc and another hour at the other end dealing with customs, immigration, baggage, etc.
it takes the earth 24 hours to spin around its own axis, that's a day. thus, it takes the opposite side of earth from seattle twelve hours to get to the place that seattle is occupying right now.
glasgow is not even half way around the world from seattle, maybe it's 3/8. so it should take the earth less than 10 or so hours of spinning until glasgow is in the same area as seattle was earlier.
therefore, and this is what i have been thinking about for a few days now, shouldn't it be possible to get in helicopter and hover 1000 feet above the earth and let the earth rotate below you and arrive in glasgow faster than flying there?

that's retarded! because when you are flying there from seattle you are flying against the rotation which means that you are covering ground by flying plus the earth is rotating your destination towards you. so my theory makes no sense.
i just wish that i could go into outerspace and see the earth from above and see the trees turn from space.
i also wish i could see the vampire squid.

here's some stars being born in the carina nebula. that's about 7500 light years from earth. but still super close. that's probably what our galaxy looked like 4.6 billion years ago.

a few reasons not to go on a van tour past the age of 34

using text messages i will now prove why this will be my last van tour. oh yeah, i lost my camera or it was stolen by housekeeping at the holiday inn in chapel hill. thus the lapse. i am in portland. there's three weeks left. flat stanley is in the mail. i am getting rid of my storage space in june and moving my records into nina's. i am gonna tour manage dinosaur jr the rest of the year, cross that off my list of dream jobs. i'll celebrate by going to argentina in december or january. or both.
also, since i don't have a camera i will now google search the main topic of each post and post the best photo on the first page. if anyone has a spare leica point and shoot digital camera or a panasonic lumix i'd love to know.
