January 2008

January 30, 2008

iggy's got nothing on me

i am not sure which of the following videos was the bigger waste of my time today.  and today, as i will post a little later on was full of youtube.  however, these two were by far thee biggest wastes of time. not surprisingly, the video with britt daniel is more boring than the (very) aptly titled "worst comedian ever".

they have tacos, enchiladas, and chicken fried steak and steak and tacos and ecnhiladas and chicken fried steak and steak and tacos and enchiladas and chicken fried steak and steak.  oh man. it's 9 pm.

at least i took a walk.  at least i took a walk. oh and cleaned the kitchen.  what a waste of my life.

(comedian link sent by doppel-bro/fellow tour manager, brad truax. brad and i are often publicly confused for one another. not a month goes by that i do not receive a text or email that says something along the lines of "dude!  just saw you going into the subway (or something)!  why didn't you tell me you were in nyc?!".  as a matter of fact just 4 days ago at the smell here in LA during an Abe Vigoda show i was approached by a girl saying "brad! brad!" and i said "nope. but i know him." she did too. anyway... that's why he's called a doppel-bro)

while we are discussing boredom or wastes of time.... i also came across this today:

"I think vinyl sounds better," said DeCicca, an employee at Used Kids Records who shares a home with thousands of 12-inch records.

    "It's warmer. It's not as harsh-sounding as a CD."

that was in the columbus dispatch in this article about columbus indie band, the black swans.  all i have to say is dude. no shit. everyone knows that!  even my mom probably knows that.  she probably does not care. but i think that my mom knows that 75%, nay! dare i say 100%?  of indie rockers think that "vinyl sounds better."

mom did you know that?  (say yes).

helicopters landing on my head

it's my birthday.
so yesterday, on the last day in hawaii, before our 10 pm flight back to LA (5:30 AM arrival), we took a helicopter ride around the island.

11:30 pm last night. i finally read the directions that came with my camera.

secret vacation

Bushes1

not much happening here.  it's the eve of our last day.  i've been averaging about 4.8 "aloha's" per day.

they are talking about the cold weather in the rest of the US on the news. -31 degrees in wisconsin!  10 degrees in chicago.  harsh times.  it's like 82 and sunny.  that means that it was 113 degrees hotter here in hawaii than it was in wisconsin!  holy shit.  hahha!

Cliff2

yesterday we went to a secret beach. not THEE secret beach here on the island. which is actually not a secret anymore seeing that it's in all the guide books.

Jensecret3

this one is a mile down a super bumpy road on 22,000 acres of private property.  there were like 10 other people there.  even though it is also in a guide book.  i guess it's the pot holes that keep people away.  i don't get why people stay away from places that are hard to get to.  but i am glad they do.

there were some signs of life tho.  ancient sand castle.

Sandcastle4

Bluegreen5

and then massive signs of life!  MONK SEALS!  they are super endangered and it's illegal to approach them.
this gray one (we learned from a flyer we saw as we were leaving) was just born in october.  it's a big deal when one is born here.  it must be super tiring having to swim in an ocean all day long.  so they were totally konked.

one last look at the pup....

the sun was setting and the lock the gate to this land at 6 sharp. we wanted to make sure we didn't have to walk back.  aloha.

Pinkdrink

on the way back we decided to stop at the grand hyatt resort next to our place.  it's like $500/night.  and i sort of saw why the other beach is not super busy.  they have everything you need here. including a 150 foot water slide.  but they don't have a swimable beach.  so why would you stay here?  we got fruity drinks.  mine: kauai candy.

Palmsmoon

the moon. the moon.  it's been around all week long. big bright and showing up early everday. it stays late too.  i watched it set last night. or watched it come close.

this is what you get for $500/night:
hammocks

Hammock_2

and an olynpic size no kids pool in a spa.  nice.

i love these trees.  i am surmising that they grow these crazy roots out of their trunks when they realize they need some support. so they have all these legs propping them up.

Crazytrees

i don't know what to say.  i don't want to go back to LA?  i do. i don't.  i will miss the ocean. i will miss the daily swimming.  i'll miss the seals.  this one was oustide our place when we got home yesterday.

Seal2sunset

but i think i'll miss the daily wicked sunset the most.

six month's on, the winter's gone

we met a dude today that married a woman from silver lake.  now he spends half his time in LA and half in Kauai. he rented us kayaks.

did you know that matt le blanc, joey from tv's friends, has a house here?  he's the only "friend" to own property here.  isn't it funny that the "friend" that was the "retard" turned out to be the smartest?  i'll let Matthew Perry slide on this since they do have a big meth problem down here (not that i have seen one iota of this) and he has a big meth problem in his mouth.

anyway.....
this is kauai.

punk is dead

i have one request.  if over the course of the next week you happen to think of me all i ask is that you have me wearing the second shirt from the left (the puerto rican bikini) and lounging on the beach.

capiche?

L1010259

cause i will be in hawaii.

mani/pedi

oh man.....

jam of 2008 has already happened.  maybe it was 2007. i wouldn't know.  but this is a ripper.

i want my fingers to learn to breakdance.

must work soon

L1010295

i got a le creuset coffee mug the other day.  i bought it cause it's the perfect mug.  some mugs, like the mugs you get at a diner are too small and too thick. they hold like a thimble of beverage at best. and some mugs, like the ones you see on friends or at most coffeeshops (ones i like, even) are so big they are ridiculous. the ones they use for lattes, etc. they are like clown shoes. they are two fisters and you risk your delicate lap skin every time you bring one to your mouth.  but leave it to le creuset to develop the perfect mug. not too big, not to small. not heavy and simple.

Comp

also, today.
look at this!  LOLrus is back and starring in the latest senior movie.  well.... this cracked me up all day long.

Funnypicturesbucketlistwalrus

have you ever seen someone love anything more than morgan freeman loves his co-star, the LOLrus? he is stoked, so stoked.

but then...upon discussing the above with Liz she asked "what was he originally looking at anyway, jack's cock?!"  and she was right.  he is. morgan freeman is laughing at jack nicholson's cock. meanwhile jack is patting him on the shoulder and snickering.  saying "it's cool, morgan.  everyone laughs the first time they look." and the whole time he is looking at you, the viewer with a look that says "right?  you remember the first time you saw it.  tell morgan."

Bucketlistposter

in other exciting news...  i took some photos on the freeway during rush hour yesterday.

L1010272

L1010281

L1010291

and if the freeway at rush hour weren't exciting enough.  i happened to capture the electric loch ness monster trolling for work on the 5. apparently he sees the WGA strike as the perfect time for him to get his foot in the door over here.  he writes his own material. and is not union. cause he is one of a kind.

last thing: today buzzelli pointed out to me that the last two times i have watched an episode of biggest loser at her place (last season's finale and the first one of the new season) i have eaten 50 - 75 % of a medium pizza buona perpperoni pizza.
