secret vacation

Bushes1

not much happening here.  it's the eve of our last day.  i've been averaging about 4.8 "aloha's" per day.

they are talking about the cold weather in the rest of the US on the news. -31 degrees in wisconsin!  10 degrees in chicago.  harsh times.  it's like 82 and sunny.  that means that it was 113 degrees hotter here in hawaii than it was in wisconsin!  holy shit.  hahha!

Cliff2

yesterday we went to a secret beach. not THEE secret beach here on the island. which is actually not a secret anymore seeing that it's in all the guide books.

Jensecret3

this one is a mile down a super bumpy road on 22,000 acres of private property.  there were like 10 other people there.  even though it is also in a guide book.  i guess it's the pot holes that keep people away.  i don't get why people stay away from places that are hard to get to.  but i am glad they do.

there were some signs of life tho.  ancient sand castle.

Bluegreen5

and then massive signs of life!  MONK SEALS!  they are super endangered and it's illegal to approach them.
this gray one (we learned from a flyer we saw as we were leaving) was just born in october.  it's a big deal when one is born here.  it must be super tiring having to swim in an ocean all day long.  so they were totally konked.

one last look at the pup....

the sun was setting and the lock the gate to this land at 6 sharp. we wanted to make sure we didn't have to walk back.  aloha.

Pinkdrink

on the way back we decided to stop at the grand hyatt resort next to our place.  it's like $500/night.  and i sort of saw why the other beach is not super busy.  they have everything you need here. including a 150 foot water slide.  but they don't have a swimable beach.  so why would you stay here?  we got fruity drinks.  mine: kauai candy.

Palmsmoon

the moon. the moon.  it's been around all week long. big bright and showing up early everday. it stays late too.  i watched it set last night. or watched it come close.

this is what you get for $500/night:
hammocks

and an olynpic size no kids pool in a spa.  nice.

i love these trees.  i am surmising that they grow these crazy roots out of their trunks when they realize they need some support. so they have all these legs propping them up.

Crazytrees

i don't know what to say.  i don't want to go back to LA?  i do. i don't.  i will miss the ocean. i will miss the daily swimming.  i'll miss the seals.  this one was oustide our place when we got home yesterday.

Seal2sunset

but i think i'll miss the daily wicked sunset the most.

I will miss the amazing pictures of your trip to Hawaii. They have brightened my mood on this Blue Monday. Love the seals as well.
