pooe bristol! poor, poor bristol. there you are living your life up in the middle of nowhere. going to church. shooting moose with mom. and getting it on with boys. and then the next thing you know that geriatric creep you've vaguely seen and heard about calls your mom and asks her to be prepared to lead the free world. and bam, you're married classic, repub, hillbilly shotgun style. 2 weeks ago you coulda had an abortion. now you have a kid and a husband and no future. so much for breaking those 18 million cracks in the highest glass ceiling. now you may as well be living in the middle east, india or creepy Utah for that matter. it's tough having a maverick mom
UPDATE
i feel a little bad about what i wrote earlier. or like maybe i need to clarifiy a little. i know a few girls that got pregnant young and have amazing kids and incredibly fufilled lives. but none of them are with the dude that fathered their baby. i guess what i annoys me is that when mccain or palin use the word "support" i don't buy it. of course it's a family thing but what kind of family, or mom for that matter, encourages a 17 year old girl to get married? and that's my point when i say maybe a couple of weeks ago there would have been a different outcome here, abortion or not. just wondering if this girl is getting married to get her mom elected.
at least the dude won't have to worry about having a pushy mother-in-law to be dictating the wedding plans. unless they wait until she loses.
omigosh. This is the supposedly open-minded, liberal, free-thinking dude? Whew....nothing like making your mind up before all the facts are in. tsk, tsk, tsk. Might as well be up there "protesting" the non-convention. Nothing like supposed free-speech advocates....trying to tie up "free speeches".

and, another thing...when did he become a geriatric creep? Seems to me you had a few nice thoughts about him previously. Drank that drink they were dispensing in Denver last week, eh? I at least gave the other side a looksee. Never know what you might find...however, liberal dude could not manage to open his mind enough to do the same?

YEAH! nothing like getting called "liberal dude" by your mom.
1.) became a geriatric creep when he started courting religious right cuckoos and flopping on everything that made him halfway decent.
2 became a geriatric creep when he put the mayor of a tiny town in position to become the president.
3 i don't know what free speech i am tying up. don't know how many more facts i need:
pregnant, check.
getting married as a teen, check.
seems like enough.
i remember you cautioning about getting married at 22 (thanks for that btw mom) let alone 17. so don't try to get me to believe that you think it's a good idea. or else you're just a cuckoo conservative mom that had a liberal dude for a son.

My mom got knocked up and then married at 17. Guess what -- my parents divorced long ago.
My mom's no flaming lefty (OK perhaps by US standards she would be) but I'm certain she'd never recommend a teenage girl do what she did. She married because that's what you did in the 60s. That was what was expected.
I feel sad for Bristol and the baby-daddy because they're being used as a tool. I don't see her having a choice in this situation. I highly doubt the marriage will last -- does anyone think it will? But what's saddest is the thought that Bristol could be going into this knowing already that it's just for show and it's doomed. What a sad way to waste years of your young life.

ohhh I don't think it's just for show! C'mon! These people really believe in the sanctity of life. It's no game to them. And i think that if bristol really feels that she DOESNT want to have a kid, she'd find a way to abort, or disappear or whatever.
I think it's really narrow to think of her as a victim of her mother's political aspirations or really, as a victim at all. Like we could somehow enlighten her with our liberalness. Like iraq? boooo.

Does it matter if he is a lefty or not? You know that if Bristol had come to her mom and said "Hey, I'm pregnant, and I'm getting an abortion" after she got the nom, all hell would have broken loose. You can't have the supposed super-reform-conservative's daughter directly opposing her mom's "values" in such a huge way.
Even if Bristol decided this on her own without any outside interference (which she probably did), you know at some point she asked herself "What's best for the campaign?"
